Truthfully, I have no idea what a Q2CQ is, and the explanation also does not make sense. So I am going to go with picking two quotes, making a comment, and asking a question about the “Mourning Picture”. The first quote that stood out to me in Seelyes version was “The nervous parents avoid each other’s eyes, Hoping she’ll make the heavenly grade.” After I read this one sentence I started to think they were seeing a ghost of their past child, and were scared of what to do. The second quote in Elmers that stood out to me is “This was our world.” What got me about this quote was that it is past tense. Leading me to believe that she was really dead and she was talking about a past memory. My comment would be I was overall very confused while reading these excerpts. Seeleys especially, because I feel that it jumps all over the place, bringing up Dorothy and Toto, and things like that. It was overall just confusing. A question I would have is what is actually going on? Or did they have to make the excerpt that confusing? Even the other article, “Speculations”. They write the same. And it may just be me, but I can’t get through a sentence or two without having to go back and reread to try and make sense and connect one or two things together. I think the styles of writing are just not meant for me to read.
